With stunning views and a real tranquility, Sorrento is a holiday getaway with edge. During the day, the wide streets are a shoppers dream, with shops galore and funky coffee shops to take a break in. But at night, Sorrento transforms into a lively dining and nightlife hub, with the streets and square closed to traffic for pedestrians. Meals are later, ice cream is always available and the drinks are always flowing.
If you don't want to pay to get into the only local discoteca, your best option is to buy some wine or anything stronger and head towards the water. With plenty of space to relax, it seems the spot for all other holidays goers to head.
There is almost a wedding or two a day in Sorrento so keep your eyes out for a bride or two, or listening in for the church bells.
While in Sorento, take the day to get lost in the lane ways and small streets that wind around the main square. Plenty of souvenir and trinket shops, leather products and limoncello. The must tries food wise have to be the arancini balls, mozzarella cakes and the cannoli. Yum in my tum!
The beach is Italian central and if you're as white as me, you'll stand out for sure. The local teens down there are super friendly. Take some flips off the pier and you'll fit right in :)
Heading to Pompeii tomorrow for a sight at the preserved city. Bring on the ruins.
